Geraldine’s B&B Grand Rex is located in Paris 9th district on the first floor of a very old building designed and created in 1790 for his owner Mr Bellot. Denis Bellot who was a midshipman on the frigate Meduse, is a survivor of the tragedy that occured in 1816 (NB: the sinking of La Méduse in the Atlantic Ocean).

The sinking of the Méduse has inspired Théodore Géricault for his famous painting “Le Radeau de la Méduse”, created between 1817 and 1819, which you can now admire at Musée du Louvre in Paris (see picture above). Later, the building was sold to a clergyman and then, it became successively a whorehouse and an “haute couture” workshop.

Géraldine’s favourite room is the living room because she says it’s a mix of several periods and styles. It has a spectacular decoration with beautiful moldings, a parquet Versailles, a nice fireplace, several mirrors and 4.50 meters high windows.

She loves welcoming guests in her apartment because it’s a unique opportunity for them to discover Paris architecture and history. The area is full of magic places like theaters, museums or cabarets and close to well known places such as Opéra Garnier or Galeries Lafayette.
